WHY WE ARE OPENING THE MUSEUM IN SALEM

Many know Ed & Lorraine Warren from "The Conjuring" Universe Films, which depicts their Occult Museum, involvement in infamous paranormal cases and demonstrates their lectures of the supernatural; all of which are based on true events.

Having lectured across the world to discuss their research and experience in the paranormal field, the Warrens also collected artifacts from cases and items of supernatural abilitiy that needed to be safely, spiritually isolated or confined, including the most infamous, Annabelle.

Some of these items, including Annabelle, were brought out to their lectures or speaking events as a means of a deeply engaging method and further educating those on the powers of the supernatural.

Eventually, the Warrens opened their home and Occult Museum in Monroe CT to public guests so they could continue to educate and share their knowledge. They went on to invite hundreds, if not thousands of guests, over the years to speak with them in their living room, showcase paranormal evidence in the "Halloween Room" in the basement and eventually leading them through the Haunted Passageway into the Occult Museum where all of their artifacts and haunted items were kept.

Ed & Lorraine Warren did this for decades, while continuing to accept haunted, cursed, or occult items that people wished to depart with or deemed too dangerous to not be kept within the Warren Occult Museum.

Even after Ed Warren's passing, this work continued. Even after Lorraine Warren's passing, this work continued. The creation of NESPR was to always pursue and bring forward education of the supernatural to the public.

This work and experience continued in the home until 2019 when the town of Monroe shut down their ability to operate "commercial tours" in a residentially zoned home. The home stayed rather vacant for years, only being occasionally made available to paranormal investigation teams directly invited by NESPR, the organization Ed & Lorraine Warren started in 1952.

In 2025, Matt Rife & Elton Castee were contacted by NESPR in regards to purchasing the home, which is still the existing location of the Warren Occult Museum. Having worked with the family for more than 5 years, there was an immediate understanding and respect for what the long term goal was of not only preserving the legacy of Ed & Lorraine Warren, but continuing their work to the best ability possible.

Matt & Elton purchased the home and fully restored every inch of it, as well as becoming guardians of the Warren Museum collection. The home has been open for overnight stays since November 1st 2025.

The home in CT is still residentially zoned which only allows its overnight guests, a maximum of 8 per night, to have access to the museum, creating the pursuit of a new public, commercially zoned location for the Haunted Warren Museum.

After nearly a year long search in CT and the nearby areas, an opportunity in Salem MA was found and immediately pursued as it is a perfect fit for the museum. Ed & Lorraine Warren loved Salem, frequently visiting, lecturing, investigating and even creating artwork based upon the city and its history.

Matt Rife & Elton Castee have also been frequent visitors of Salem since 2022 and have fallen in love with the energy, uniqueness, history and passion that lives within every inch of the city.

The continuation of Ed & Lorraine's work will have its next chapter in what is arguably the spooky capital of the world, while Matt & Elton pursue their dedication to continuing the mission of education and research of the supernatural, occult, paranormal and beyond.

The Haunted Warren Museum will be creating an immersive, educational and enthralling experience meant to capture the essence and sincere intent of learning about the unknown.

More details on the experiences that will be available, exhibits being built, haunted items being acquired and more will all be announced on July 13th, with continuous updates happening nearly every day.

The development of the Haunted Warren Museum will be a 24/7/365 operation as the team will always be looking for ways to improve and enhance the experience and educational aspects for every single guest for years and hopefully decades to come.

We'll see you in Salem.
